FAQs

Will this be on every bill?

You will only every be charged a pro-rata fee on your first bill with your network. However, if you change network providers, you will be charged this again.

After the first full month of your contract, your bill should revert to the agreed monthly cost.

Will MDM affect user privacy?

No. MDM monitors business applications and enforces security policies but does not access personal data such as photos, messages, or personal applications.

Why is my first bill higher than expected?

All the networks that we work with, bill one month in advance, so this means that your first bill will include a partial month, otherwise known as a pro-rata fee.

Why is mobile device management (MDM) important in an organisation?

MDM can create efficiencies as well as enhance security protocols. It can allow businesses to automate many tasks such as remote installation of applications across all users and centrally updating of software. This eliminates the need for employees to be in a physical office at a designated time to have their devices upgraded.

It can also help businesses achieve compliance and quality standards, for example, GDPR, and protect sensitive corporate data on mobile devices by controlling how it’s shared or saved on third-party devices.

Why do I need to use or supply a PAC?

If you change network providers, and you want to retain your existing mobile number, you will need a PAC to facilitate this. Once received, your number will usually transfer to your new provider within the next working day.

This process is also called mobile number portability (MNP).

Why can’t I see my Airtime Credit on my network bill?

Your Airtime Credit (ATC) will not appear on your monthly bill from your network bill because it is an arrangement between your business and Connection Technologies. As the credit is paid by Connection Technologies and not the network, it will show as a payment into your business bank account.

What types of bolt ons are available?

Each network has different bolt on options which are subject to change, with new ones being added all the time. Talk to your UK based account manager or call our customer services team on 0333 015 2615 and we will be happy to advise on the best options for you.

What is the RPI and CPPI increase and how will it affect me?

Every April, the network providers review their pricing based on the RPI (Retail Prices Index) and CPI (Consumer Price Index) and this usually results in an increase in your mobile line rental.

What is the 2025 Ofcom ruling on inflation-linked price hikes?

At the beginning of 2025, Ofcom announced a ruling that banned mid-contract price rises linked to inflation, to ensure greater price transparency for mobile, broadband and TV customers.

This ruling refers to consumer contracts, however in the spirit of transparency, the networks that Connection Technologies work with have adopted some of the same principals, mainly stating any future price rises in exact monetary terms at the point of sale, ensuring that customers know the exact costs throughout the duration of their contract.

What this means for you is as follows:

Vodafone and EE will continue to follow a CPI and RPI linked increase. The CPI is published in January each year which is then added to an additional increase which accounts for the RPI.

O2 have opted to follow a fixed fee increase of £1.50 every April, for the duration of the contract.

Three will be following a tiered approach based on the value of the monthly contract fee. Monthly rentals of £0.01 – £9.99 will increase by 50p every April for the duration of the contract. Monthly rentals of £10.00 – £20.00 will increase by 75p every April for the duration of the contract. Monthly rentals of £20.01+ will increase by £1.50 every April for the duration of the contract.

For the latest increases, always refer to your network providers website.

What is mobile device management (MDM)?

MDM is the monitoring, managing and securing of mobile devices such as laptops, smartphones and tablets that businesses use to access business-critical data.

This allows employees to be able to work from any location, as MDM means you can update software from a central location and lock or wipe devices if they get lost, stolen or damaged.

What is Airtime Credit (ATC)?

Simply put, this is a monthly credit payable from Connection Technologies to your business bank account. This is to reduce your bill to your agreed monthly cost. They are classed as zero VAT because they are classified as ex-gratia payments.

What is a pro-rata fee?

A pro-rata fee covers the period from when the contract was first activated with the chosen network, through to the start of the billing cycle (the first full month).
