EE Smart Hub Plus — login, gateway address and status lights
Open a browser on a device connected to your EE Smart Hub Plus and go to 192.168.1.254.
The password is unique to your unit and printed on it — there is no universal default.
The EE Smart Hub Plus is a broadband hub supplied by an internet provider from EE, in UK use Wi-Fi 6; SH31B, SH32B or SH30A. This page covers the four things people actually come looking for: its settings address, how its login works, what its lights mean and how to reset it safely.
What is the EE Smart Hub Plus gateway address?
The EE Smart Hub Plus settings page is at 192.168.1.254. Type that into the address bar of a browser — not into a search box, which will just search for the number instead of opening the page.
Your device has to be connected to the EE Smart Hub Plus itself for this to work — over its Wi-Fi or by cable. On mobile data, or connected to a different network, the address goes nowhere.
Given on EE's product information page for this hub. The eehub hostname is documented for the EE Smart Hub but not for this model, so we do not claim it here.
What is the default username and password for the EE Smart Hub Plus?
Unique password on the device label
There is no default password for the EE Smart Hub Plus that we could publish, because every unit has a different one.
Where to find yours. On the pull-out settings card on the back of the hub, with the Wi-Fi name and password on the reverse and a QR code on the inside.
EE says the Wi-Fi settings and the Hub Manager admin password are both printed on the card that comes with the hub, and that the admin password only matters if you want to open the Hub Manager. Both values are specific to your unit, so there is no shared default to publish.
If a website offers you a single password that works on every EE Smart Hub Plus, it is wrong. Those lists copy a per-device password from one unit and republish it as though it were universal.
What do the lights on the EE Smart Hub Plus mean?
Here is what each light on the EE Smart Hub Plus is telling you, and what to do about it.
| Light | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Statussolid aqua | The hub is connected to broadband. | Nothing to do. |
| Statusflashing orange | The hub is connecting to broadband. | Give it at least three minutes. The light turns aqua when it is ready. |
| Statussolid orange | The hub is not connected to the internet. | Check the cables, then power the hub off and on. |
| Statussolid green | The hub is starting up. | Wait at least three minutes for it to turn aqua. If it stays green, power it off and on, and reset it if that does not help. |
| Statussolid white | The hub is running over the mobile network using a Connectivity Backup device. EE also calls this Smart Hybrid Connect. | Nothing to do while your broadband is down; it switches back on its own. |
| Statussolid red | There is a problem somewhere. | Power the hub off and on, and factory reset it if the light does not clear. |
| Statusoff | The power is off, or the light has been turned off. | Check the power first, then check whether the light was simply disabled in the Hub Manager. |
| Statusflashing blue | The WPS button on the hub has been pressed. | Press WPS on the device you are pairing. |
EE labels the mobile-backup state "Using a Smart Hybrid Connect" in the summary row and "Connectivity Backup" in the detail beneath it. Both are EE's own names for the same accessory.
How do you reset a EE Smart Hub Plus?
What you lose. Removes every change you have made, including wireless settings, Guest Wi-Fi, Compatibility Wi-Fi and LED brightness. The network name and password revert to the printed card, and Wi-Fi Extenders need pairing again.
- Press the Reset button on the back with a pin or straightened paperclip.
- Hold it for About 20 seconds, until the light turns green.
- Release, and give the unit a few minutes to restart before trying to connect.
EE documents this on the lights page for this specific model, and adds that the hub takes up to five minutes to come back.
A reboot is not a reset. A power cycle keeps your settings. Allow at least three minutes before the light settles on aqua, and keep the hub upright while it runs.
What if you cannot get into the EE Smart Hub Plus at all?
We have not confirmed whether this model offers a password recovery route short of a factory reset.
