A business SIM-only deal gives you airtime — calls, texts and data — in the company name, with a business invoice and account management, and no handset bundled into the price. It is the right choice when your team’s phones are still serviceable, when you buy devices outright, or when you want the flexibility of a shorter contract. Business SIM only vs a contract with a handset
The trade-off is simple: a SIM-only plan is pure airtime, while a handset contract folds a device repayment into the monthly price for 24–36 months. SIM-only wins on monthly cost (entry business SIMs run £8–£13.33/mo against £14/mo upwards for the cheapest handset bundles), on flexibility (30-day and 12-month terms exist; handset deals rarely go below 24 months), and on accounting simplicity if you prefer to buy devices outright and claim capital allowances through the business.
Handset contracts win when cash flow matters more than total cost — you get current devices with no upfront spend, one predictable invoice, and warranty and replacement handled under the business account. How much data does a business SIM actually need?
Pick the allowance by role, not by habit — paying for unlimited data on a desk-based line is the most common waste we see on business accounts:
- Desk-based staff (email, calls, occasional maps): 5–10GB is usually plenty. EE’s 10GB at £15/mo (24m) or Sky’s 10GB at £11/mo sit in this band.
- Hybrid and field staff (Teams calls, photos, navigation daily): 25–80GB. Three’s 25GB at £14/mo and 80GB at £16/mo (24m) are the standout published prices; our £8/mo Vodafone 25GB partner deal undercuts both.
- Heavy users and hotspot workers (site offices, tethered laptops): 100GB+ or unlimited. Once you pass roughly 100GB, unlimited plans usually cost less than the next capped tier — compare Vodafone’s 120GB at £17.50 with its unlimited plan at £19.17.
Unlimited-data business SIMs
Every network on this page sells an unlimited business SIM. Published 24-month prices, ex VAT and checked August 2026: Vodafone from £19.17/mo (a promotional rate against its £29.17 standard price, with a 100Mbps speed-capped variant), Three £21/mo, EE £25/mo, Sky £35/mo — and £11/mo on O2 or Vodafone through our partner desk. Check the fair-use small print rather than the headline: Three states there are no hidden UK fair-use limits on unlimited data, while Vodafone’s unlimited business plans carry a 25GB roaming fair-use cap and, on some tiers, download speed caps. If your “unlimited” need is really a roaming need, the allowance that matters is the roaming one.
Multi-line and pooled-data options
From about five SIMs upward, per-line prices drop and data can be shared instead of duplicated:
- Vodafone Multibuy: buy 5–9 unlimited SIMs together on 24-month terms and the advertised price per additional SIM falls to £11.67/mo ex VAT (checked August 2026).
- Three multi-line (Boundless): tiered discounts on 12- and 24-month unlimited SIMs up to 50 lines, with inclusive roaming addable per SIM from £4.17/mo — you only pay for roaming on the SIMs that travel.
- Sky Roll & Share: unused data on capped plans rolls into a shared databank for up to 12 months and is automatically shared across the team’s SIMs — useful when usage varies month to month.

Contract lengths: 30-day, 12, 24 and 36 months
Longer terms buy lower prices. EE’s unlimited business SIM is £31/mo on a rolling 30-day term but £25/mo on 24 months; Three’s is £25/mo rolling against £21/mo on 24 months. Vodafone and O2 (and our partner deals) add 36-month terms at the bottom of the price ladder — that is how the £8 and £11 partner prices are reached. Two things to check before you commit:
- Annual price rises. The big four apply fixed increases each spring: EE +£2.08/mo (each 31 March, SIM-only), Vodafone +£2.09/mo on sole-trader plans and +£3.01/mo on limited-company plans (each 1 April), O2 +£1.50/mo (each April, contracts signed since January 2025), and Three +£0.50 to +£1.50/mo depending on plan price (each April). Sky Business Mobile commits to no mid-contract price rises. On a 36-month term, three rises compound — price them in before comparing headline rates.
- The 24-month curiosity: the cheapest business SIM on any UK network is EE’s £5/mo voice-only SIM (unlimited calls and texts, 0GB data, 24 months) — genuinely useful for lone-worker phones, lift lines and alarm diallers, but it is not a working data plan, which is why our “from” pricing starts at £8 with 25GB.
Switching business SIMs and keeping your numbers
Number porting is free, regulated and quick. Text PAC to 65075 from each line (or request codes in bulk from your account manager for fleets), give the PAC to the new provider, and the number usually moves the next working day. The code is valid for 30 days and your old contract ends automatically when the port completes — step-by-step guides here: how to get a PAC code, plus network-specific versions for EE, O2, Vodafone and Three. If you don’t want to keep a number, use a STAC code instead (text STAC to 75075).
Switching mid-contract is a cost calculation rather than a rule: early-termination charges are typically the remaining monthly charges on each line, so the maths only works when the saving on the new deal beats the exit fee — we run that calculation line-by-line as part of any quote, and time ports to each line’s contract end date where it doesn’t.

EE business SIM only
The widest published price ladder (1GB to unlimited, 30-day to 24-month) and consistently strong 5G speeds. List prices sit at the premium end — £15/mo for 10GB on 24 months — and rise £2.08 each March. Compare it against the other networks on our business mobiles hub.
O2 business SIM only
O2 doesn’t publish a business SIM price list — direct pricing is quote-based through its business shop. That makes partner pricing the practical route: our current O2 unlimited business SIM is £11/mo ex VAT on 36 months, with free EU roaming and 2,000 UK→EU minutes included. O2’s fixed annual rise (£1.50/mo) is the smallest of the big four.
Vodafone business SIM only
The most term flexibility (30-day through 36-month) and aggressive promotional pricing — unlimited from £19.17/mo direct, or £11/mo (unlimited) and £8/mo (25GB) through our partner desk. Watch the plan tier you pick: some unlimited variants are speed-capped at 100Mbps, and roaming carries a 25GB fair-use cap.
Three business SIM only
The best published value per gigabyte — 25GB for £14/mo and unlimited for £21/mo on 24 months — with no UK fair-use throttling on unlimited plans. Note the published prices assume payment by Direct Debit (a £5/mo discount is built in) and Three’s network is now part of VodafoneThree, so coverage is converging with Vodafone’s.
Sky Business Mobile
The newest entrant (launched October 2025, runs on O2’s network) and SIM-only by design — no handsets sold. Roll & Share data pooling and a no-mid-contract-rises commitment are genuinely different; the unlimited tier (£35/mo) is the market’s dearest, and existing Sky Business broadband/TV customers get 25% off. Yes. Sole traders and partnerships qualify for business SIM-only plans on every network, including brand-new businesses — credit-light approval routes exist that don’t need a long trading history. For new businesses, seasonal staff or anyone mid-negotiation, yes — you keep full flexibility for a premium of roughly £4–£6/mo per line over the 24-month price (EE unlimited: £31 rolling vs £25 on 24 months; Three: £25 vs £21). Once your line count is stable, moving to 24- or 36-month terms buys the biggest per-line savings.
Business SIM plans roll on at the same (or annually increased) monthly price until you act — networks don’t automatically move you to a better rate. Diarise the end date, then renegotiate or switch with a PAC. Out-of-contract lines are almost always paying above current market price, which is why we start every quote with a contract-status check.
