Teltonika RUTX50 — login, gateway address and status lights

The Teltonika RUTX50 is a 4G/5G router from Teltonika, in UK use 2021-2027 (EOL announced). This page covers the four things people actually come looking for: its settings address, how its login works, what its lights mean and how to reset it safely.
What is the Teltonika RUTX50 gateway address?
The Teltonika RUTX50 settings page is at 192.168.1.1. Type that into the address bar of a browser — not into a search box, which will just search for the number instead of opening the page.
Your device has to be connected to the Teltonika RUTX50 itself for this to work — over its Wi-Fi or by cable. On mobile data, or connected to a different network, the address goes nowhere.
Teltonika documents this as the default LAN address, and it is also the fixed bootloader-mode address: "regardless of what the device's IP address was before, the IP address of the device when it's in the bootloader menu state is always 192.168.1.1." That makes it a reliable place to look even on a unit whose LAN has been changed.
What is the default username and password for the Teltonika RUTX50?
Unique password on the device label
There is no default password for the Teltonika RUTX50 that we could publish, because every unit has a different one.
Where to find yours. On the product label on the bottom of the device casing — Teltonika states it twice. The label carries a username field, always admin, and a password field of at least eight characters, plus a QR code encoding both.
Every RUTX50 has its own password, printed on the label. Teltonika's batch table gives the cut-over for this model as batch 1, which means it has used unique per-unit passwords since its first production run — so unlike the RUT240 there is no older generation to fall back on and admin01 should not be expected on any RUTX50 in the field. First login forces a password change before the web interface will do anything.
If a website offers you a single password that works on every Teltonika RUTX50, it is wrong. Those lists copy a per-device password from one unit and republish it as though it were universal.
What do the lights on the Teltonika RUTX50 mean?

How do you reset a Teltonika RUTX50?
What you lose. All custom configuration is deleted. Teltonika's own page says two contradictory things about the SIM PIN — in one place that it is the only parameter kept after a factory reset, and in another that a factory defaults reset "will remove all logs, SIM PIN's and RMS data". These cannot both be true and Teltonika does not reconcile them, so the safe assumption is that the PIN may or may not survive: have it to hand before you reset a remote unit.
- The reset button is on the front of the device, not the rear. Up to 4 seconds reboots it, which starts with all three signal lights flashing together with the green connection light. At least 12 seconds performs a factory reset. There are two further documented routes: an SMS message of your router password followed by the word restore, which triggers a reset remotely, and the bootloader menu — hold reset, apply power, hold five seconds more, release, and the lights blink rapidly before it answers at 192.168.1.1.
- Hold it for Up to 4 seconds reboots it. 12 to 20 seconds is a factory reset. Past 20 seconds, nothing happens at all..
- Release, and give the unit a few minutes to restart before trying to connect.
On this model the lights cannot time the full hold. Teltonika states that "when all 3 Mobile signal quality LEDs are lit up, they represent that 6 seconds have passed" — but a factory reset needs twelve, so keep holding well past the point where all three are lit.
A reboot is not a reset. A press of up to four seconds reboots the device and keeps every setting.
What if you cannot get into the Teltonika RUTX50 at all?
Yes. The label password is the factory default, so it is what the device returns to after a reset and the sticker remains valid. If it is still unreachable, the bootloader menu at 192.168.1.1 allows a firmware or bootloader reflash over HTTP, and a return to the supplier is the last resort. The SMS route is worth knowing about for a remote site: Teltonika enables an SMS-triggered factory reset by default, using your router password followed by the word restore.
If that does not work, a factory reset will always get you in, at the cost of every setting on the unit.
