Vodafone WiFi Hub — login, gateway address and status lights

Open a browser on a device connected to your Vodafone WiFi Hub and go to 192.168.1.1, or vodafone.connect.

The password is unique to your unit and printed on it — there is no universal default.

Before you reset anything: a lost admin password on this model cannot be recovered. A factory reset is the only way back in and it erases the entire configuration.

The Vodafone WiFi Hub is a broadband hub supplied by an internet provider from Vodafone, in UK use Wi-Fi 5; standard fibre plans. This page covers the four things people actually come looking for: its settings address, how its login works, what its lights mean and how to reset it safely.

What is the Vodafone WiFi Hub gateway address?

The Vodafone WiFi Hub settings page is at 192.168.1.1. Type that into the address bar of a browser — not into a search box, which will just search for the number instead of opening the page.

You can also use vodafone.connect, which reaches the same page and is easier to remember.

Your device has to be connected to the Vodafone WiFi Hub itself for this to work — over its Wi-Fi or by cable. On mobile data, or connected to a different network, the address goes nowhere.

Vodafone gives the address under a heading naming the WiFi Hub. The hostname comes from Vodafone router guides that do not name this model, so it is the less certain of the two.

What is the default username and password for the Vodafone WiFi Hub?

Unique password on the device label

There is no default password for the Vodafone WiFi Hub that we could publish, because every unit has a different one.

Where to find yours. On the bottom of the router; Vodafone's factory-reset page says the bottom or back.

Same arrangement as the Ultra Hub: a per-device password printed on the unit, which Vodafone then asks you to change at first login. Vodafone states in two separate places that the router password is different from the Wi-Fi password, and its business guide separates them explicitly — the Wi-Fi password is printed on the back, the router password is what gets you into the Vodafone Broadband portal. No admin username is documented.

If a website offers you a single password that works on every Vodafone WiFi Hub, it is wrong. Those lists copy a per-device password from one unit and republish it as though it were universal.

What do the lights on the Vodafone WiFi Hub mean?

Here is what each light on the Vodafone WiFi Hub is telling you, and what to do about it.

Vodafone heads its lights article for this hub "Vodafone VOX 3 Broadband Router", which is the same device. Note that this hub uses white where the Ultra Hub uses green for a healthy state — the two are not interchangeable.

How do you reset a Vodafone WiFi Hub?

What you lose. Resets every custom setting including your Wi-Fi name and password, so you will need the printed default from the bottom of the router to reconnect your devices.

  1. Insert a pin into the reset hole at the back — on the WiFi Hub it sits next to the power button — and push until you hear a click.
  2. Hold it for 10 seconds.
  3. Release, and give the unit a few minutes to restart before trying to connect.

Vodafone documents a different button position for this hub than for the Ultra Hub, which is worth checking before you start poking at the back panel.

A reboot is not a reset. A power cycle keeps your settings. On this hub a red power light during startup is normal — see the light table below before treating it as a fault.

What if you cannot get into the Vodafone WiFi Hub at all?

A lost password cannot be recovered on this model. There is no backdoor, no master password and no way for the manufacturer to retrieve it.

Vodafone states that a forgotten admin password means a factory reset. No override is published.

That leaves two options, in this order: find whoever set the unit up and ask them, or factory reset it and rebuild the configuration from scratch. Restoring a configuration backup does not help, because the backup contains the same password you do not know.
