Sky Max Hub — settings, status lights and reset
Sky documents no web interface or LAN address for this hub.
There is no web login at all — everything is done in the app.
Partly verified. The light table and the Wi-Fi credential locations are well documented by Sky. The reset instructions are not: Sky publishes two incompatible procedures, and no gateway address or admin login exists for this hub at all.
The Sky Max Hub is a broadband hub supplied by an internet provider from Sky, in UK use Sky's current hub. This page covers the four things people actually come looking for: its settings address, how its login works, what its lights mean and how to reset it safely.
What is the Sky Max Hub gateway address?
Sky documents no web interface or LAN address for this hub. Its settings articles route you to the My Sky app instead, and the pages that do give 192.168.0.1 scope themselves explicitly to the Sky Broadband Hub, Sky Q Hub and Sky Hub — this model is deliberately excluded. We will not carry that address across.
We have not been able to confirm this address against Sky's own documentation, so treat it as a starting point rather than a certainty.
What is the default username and password for the Sky Max Hub?
App-managed, no web login
The Sky Max Hub has no router password at all, because it has no web login to put one on.
How you get in instead. Through the My Sky app.
There is no admin password on this hub because there is no web login to put one on. Sky manages it entirely through the My Sky app, signed in with your Sky ID, which is why the usual question of "what is the router password" has no answer here. The Wi-Fi credentials are printed on the unit and the card, and are also visible in the app.
Because access follows the account that set the network up rather than a password, the question to answer when you are locked out is which account owns it.
What do the lights on the Sky Max Hub mean?
Here is what each light on the Sky Max Hub is telling you, and what to do about it.
| Light | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Statussolid white | The hub is working and connected to the internet. | Nothing to do. |
| Statussolid amber | The hub is powering up. | It can take a few minutes to start. |
| Statusflashing amber | The hub is authenticating. | It can take a few minutes to connect to the internet. |
| Statusslowly flashing green | The hub has been authenticated and is nearly ready. | The light turns white once it is connected. |
| Statusrapidly flashing green | The hub is resetting. | Do not disconnect the power while this is happening. |
| Statusalternating green | Flashing green and amber together means a software update is running, which Sky says takes about 15 minutes. | Leave the hub switched on. The light stops flashing and turns white when it is done. |
| Statusflashing blue | WPS is active and the hub is ready to pair. It flashes for two minutes then stops. | Press WPS on the device you are pairing. |
| Statussolid red | Sky routes this to its service checker as a problem. | Run Sky's service checker. |
| Statusoff | The hub lights are off. | Check the power cable and the plug socket. |
A single light on the front covers all nine states. Sky notes that from a cold start it shows amber, flashing amber or flashing green for a few minutes before settling.
How do you reset a Sky Max Hub?
What you lose. Returns the hub to the default password details printed on the bottom and undoes any settings you have changed.
- Sky contradicts itself. One page says holding the WPS button for 30 seconds or more factory resets the hub; another says the Reset button resets it if held more than 12 seconds, with a five-second press doing something lesser.
- Hold it for Either 30 seconds on WPS or more than 12 seconds on Reset, depending which Sky page you read.
- Release, and give the unit a few minutes to restart before trying to connect.
Both figures come from Sky's own light-guide pages and they are not compatible. We publish both rather than picking one, because guessing here means telling people to hold a button for the wrong length of time on the wrong button.
A reboot is not a reset. A power cycle keeps your settings, and Sky says your Wi-Fi configuration is stored in the My Sky app in any case — a replacement hub is documented as picking up the same network name and password as the old one.
The exact hold time is not published by the manufacturer on the pages we have checked, so treat it as indicative.
What if you cannot get into the Sky Max Hub at all?
We have not confirmed whether this model offers a password recovery route short of a factory reset.
