Who the 18 Pro Max is for

The Pro Max is the same phone as the iPhone 18 Pro in a larger body: identical A20 Pro chip, identical 48MP Pro Fusion camera system, identical aluminium unibody and IP68 rating. What the extra £100 and 38 grams buy is a 6.9-inch display and the largest battery Apple fits to an iPhone. That combination pays off for three kinds of user: site and project managers who read drawings, dispatch boards and floor plans on the phone; sales and account teams who run video calls and presentations from wherever they are; and anyone whose working day runs past twelve hours with no reliable place to charge. For a desk-based employee the 18 Pro Max is a luxury; for a lone worker on a 14-hour shift it is the cheapest insurance against a dead phone.

What the iPhone 18 Pro Max costs a business

Apple UK RRP, retrieved 22 September 2026: £1,299 (256GB), £1,499 (512GB), £1,899 (1TB), £2,499 (2TB), all including VAT. Apple’s own finance is 30 months at 0% APR. On a business tariff the handset is bundled with airtime; the public ex-VAT list prices we could verify on 22 September 2026 are:

Three points before you sign. The introductory price at Three lasts for a set period, then steps up £5, and the contract also carries a fixed £1.50 April increase, so model the average monthly cost rather than the headline. Vodafone’s 48-month handset plan halves the monthly figure compared with a 24-month deal but leaves you paying for a phone into its fifth year. And on any network, the ex-VAT figure is the real cost to a VAT-registered business; consumer prices you see advertised include 20% you will reclaim. iPhone 18 Pro Max or iPhone Duo?

This is the question we are asked most about the new range. The iPhone Duo costs £1,999 at RRP, £700 more than the Pro Max, ships from 23 October, is eSIM-only and opens to a 7.6-inch inner display that Apple says is 50% larger than the Pro Max screen. Choose the Pro Max if the user mainly consumes one thing at a time: calls, email, maps, camera, a single app full-screen. It has the better camera (the Duo has no dedicated telephoto), the longer single-screen battery rating, a physical SIM tray for fleets that still swap SIMs, and Face ID. Choose the Duo when the user genuinely works with two things side by side, such as a document and a chat, or a spreadsheet and a video call, and would otherwise carry an iPad. In most businesses that is a handful of directors and reviewers, not the whole fleet.

SIM-only vs contract for a Pro Max fleet

At £1,082.50 ex-VAT per handset, outright purchase plus a business SIM-only plan deserves a proper comparison. Buying outright lets you claim the full cost through capital allowances in year one, keeps airtime on a 12-month term you can renegotiate, and avoids paying finance charges hidden in a bundle. A bundled contract is the better route when you would rather spread the cost, want one supplier and one bill for handsets, airtime and support, or can capture a genuine launch trade-in credit. Tax treatment

A company-owned 18 Pro Max is a normal business asset. VAT-registered businesses reclaim the VAT on handset and airtime (apportioned if private use is significant); limited companies deduct the monthly cost against corporation tax or claim an outright purchase under the Annual Investment Allowance; one phone per employee with the contract in the company’s name carries no benefit-in-kind charge. Apple Business, MDM and eSIM

Apple Business (formerly Apple Business Manager) was replaced on 14 April 2026 by Apple Business, a free platform with a built-in MDM, Blueprints for zero-touch set-up and Managed Apple Accounts. Ask us to assign your 18 Pro Max order to your Apple Business account before dispatch; each phone then enrols itself into Apple Business or your existing MDM (Intune, Jamf, Mosyle) on first Wi-Fi connection. If you are moving lines to eSIM, check the network supports eSIM Carrier Activation so the profile installs during enrolment, and set the AllowESIMModification restriction so users cannot delete the work line. iPhone 18 Pro Max vs Galaxy S26 Ultra: business specs and costs

The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is the direct Android rival: a 6.9-inch class device with a built-in S Pen, Samsung DeX desktop mode and Knox management. It suits Windows-first businesses and anyone who marks up documents by hand. The 18 Pro Max answers with the longer rated battery, the tighter fit with Macs and iPads, higher resale values at refresh time and Apple Business zero-touch deployment.
