Lebara APN Settings

Updated

Quick Answer

The Lebara UK APN is uk.lebara.mobi, with wap as both username and password. On Android, Lebara has you create two profiles — one for internet and one for MMS — both using that same APN. Or text INTERNET to 38885 to have the settings sent to you.

Checking mobile APN settings on a UK SIM

Lebara runs an official per-handset setup site, so the values below are its own published settings rather than anyone’s reconstruction. The thing to get right is the two-profile structure on Android: entering everything into a single profile is the usual reason data works but picture messaging does not.

Complete Lebara APN Settings

The internet profile:

NameLebara Internet
APNuk.lebara.mobi
Usernamewap
Passwordwap
MCC234
MNC15
Authentication typeNone
APN typedefault
Proxy / PortNot published by the operator
APN protocolNot published by the operator

And the MMS profile, which reuses the same APN string:

NameLebara MMS
APNuk.lebara.mobi
MMSChttp://mms.lebara.co.uk/servlets/mms
MMS proxy212.183.137.12
MMS port8799
Username / Passwordwap / wap
Authentication typeNone
APN typemms

One detail worth knowing: Lebara writes the MMS proxy as 212.183.137.012, with a leading zero on the final block. Some devices read a leading zero as octal and end up at the wrong address, so enter it as 212.183.137.12. It is the same address without the padding.

Entering Lebara APN Settings on Android

  1. Go to Settings > Network & internet > SIMs, then Access Point Names.
  2. Lebara advises removing existing profiles except Lebara MMS before you start.
  3. Add a profile named Lebara Internet with the internet values above.
  4. Add a second named Lebara MMS with the MMS values, setting APN type to mms.
  5. Select Lebara Internet as the active profile, then restart the phone.

The MMS profile does not need to be the selected one — Android picks it up by its type. See our Android APN guide for menu differences between manufacturers.

Entering Lebara APN Settings on iPhone

iOS uses one screen at Settings > Mobile Data > Mobile Data Network, with separate Mobile Data and MMS sections. Put uk.lebara.mobi and wap / wap in both, then add the MMSC, proxy and port in the MMS section. Our iPhone APN guide covers what to do when that menu is not there at all.

If Lebara Data Still Will Not Work

Text INTERNET to 38885 and let Lebara push the configuration rather than typing it. Restart after any change. Check the APN reads uk.lebara.mobi and not lebara.co.uk or uk.lebara.co.uk. If picture messaging is the only casualty, the MMS profile is either missing or has the wrong APN type. Anything beyond that is covered in mobile data not working.

Lebara Runs on Vodafone

Vodafone hosts Lebara in the UK, which the MNC of 15 in Lebara’s own settings confirms. That does not mean the two share an APN: Lebara has its own, and putting wap.vodafone.co.uk on a Lebara SIM will not work. If you also manage Vodafone lines, our Vodafone APN settings guide covers those separately.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the APN for Lebara UK?

The Lebara UK APN is uk.lebara.mobi, with wap as both the username and the password. Note the shape of it: the country code comes first and it ends .mobi, so it is not “lebara.co.uk” as people usually guess.

Do I need two APN profiles on Android for Lebara?

Yes. Lebara’s own Android instructions create two: Lebara Internet with APN type default, and Lebara MMS with APN type mms. Both use the same APN string. On iPhone there is only one screen, with separate Mobile Data and MMS sections, so the split does not apply.

What are the Lebara MMS settings?

Create a second profile named Lebara MMS using APN uk.lebara.mobi, MMSC http://mms.lebara.co.uk/servlets/mms, MMS proxy 212.183.137.12 and port 8799, with APN type mms and authentication set to None.

Can I get Lebara settings sent to my phone automatically?

Yes. Text INTERNET to 38885 from the Lebara phone and the configuration is sent to you. Lebara also says data should work as soon as the SIM is inserted, so manual entry is only needed when that has not happened.

Which network does Lebara use in the UK?

Vodafone. Vodafone’s own newsroom confirms it was chosen to continue as host network for Lebara’s UK business, and the MNC Lebara publishes, 15, is Vodafone UK’s network code. Lebara has its own APN, though — do not substitute Vodafone’s wap.vodafone.co.uk, which will not work on a Lebara SIM.

Why does Lebara give two different APN types?

Lebara’s device-help site says default while its main help page says default, supl, mms. The two are reconcilable: the device-help flow has you build a separate MMS profile, so default alone is right there, whereas the single-profile approach on the main help page needs all three. Match whichever method you are following rather than mixing them.
