What Is a STAC Code?
STAC Code Explained
A STAC code (Service Termination Authorisation Code) is a code you use when you want to leave your mobile network without keeping your phone number. Unlike a PAC code, which transfers your number to a new provider, a STAC code simply ends your contract and releases your number back to the network.
When to Use a STAC Code
- You are switching to a new number and do not need to keep the old one.
- You are closing a business line that is no longer required.
- You have a secondary SIM you no longer use.
How to Get a STAC Code
Text STAC to 75075 from the mobile you want to cancel. Your network will reply within 60 seconds with your STAC code and information about any early termination charges that apply.
STAC Code vs PAC Code
| Feature | PAC Code | STAC Code |
|---|---|---|
| Keeps your number | Yes | No |
| How to request | Text PAC to 65075 | Text STAC to 75075 |
| Valid for | 30 days | 30 days |
| Use when | Switching networks | Cancelling a line |
Important Notes
- Once you use a STAC code, your number cannot be recovered.
- If you are within your minimum contract term, early termination fees may apply.
- The cancellation takes effect within 1 working day of giving the STAC to your new provider or confirming cancellation.
- For business accounts with multiple lines, speak to your account manager to coordinate cancellations.
