What Is a STAC Code?

Updated

⚠️ Before you cancel — have you compared deals?

A STAC code permanently terminates your number. If you want to keep it, use a PAC code instead and let us find you a better deal from another network. Most businesses save 20-40%.

STAC Code Explained

A STAC code (Service Termination Authorisation Code) is a code you use when you want to leave your mobile network without keeping your phone number. Unlike a PAC code, which transfers your number to a new provider, a STAC code simply ends your contract and releases your number back to the network.

When to Use a STAC Code

  • Leaving your network without keeping your number — you want a clean break.
  • Starting fresh — you're taking a brand-new number with your new provider.
  • Closing a spare line — a second SIM or old PAYG number you no longer use.
  • Avoiding rolling charges — using the STAC formally ends the old agreement rather than leaving it running.

How to Get a STAC Code

Text STAC to 75075 from the mobile you want to cancel. Your network will reply within 60 seconds with your STAC code and information about any early termination charges that apply.

Important Notes

  • Free to request — text STAC to 75075 or ask your network.
  • Valid for 30 days — it expires if unused, and you can request another.
  • The contract ends when the STAC is used, not when it's issued — until then, billing continues.
  • Early termination fees still apply if you're inside a minimum term.
  • Want to keep your number? Use a PAC code instead — a STAC releases the number permanently.
